Why should I replace my roof tiles?
There comes a time when a roof tile loses it structural integrity and become aged and brittle. When this occurs the roof tiles are no longer effective and require replacement. This can be more obvious in Terracotta tiles as the tile can become flaky and crumbles away also known as tile Cancer.
What is involved in a roof replacement?
When replacing your roof, first and foremost we will always install a safety handrail for fall protection; we are obligated by law to do this.
All roof tiles are removed and battens stripped back to just the bare roof trusses. We also remove any old valley iron and replace it to ensure your roof will last the life of our warranty and longer.
Once this has been done we then mark out your roof to the spacing’s required to your choice of roof tile and the roof is re-battened (sarking is applied to the roof battens if required).
Once your roof has been battened out, we then load your roof with the new tiles and lay them in either a staggered or straight bond alignment (which ever required or specified). Roof tiles are cut in and around all hips, valleys, gables and any other flashing s required before we commence the re-bed and point.
Bedding is a mixture of sand and cement which is used as a foundation for the ridge caps, valley tiles and gable tiles to hold them in position. These works are completed prior to an application of a rubber compound known as flexible pointing is applied to the cement work to increase strength and longevity.
All valleys are grinded to coincide with our Australian Standards and storm seal is used to secure the roof tiles in place.
